Why are eFusjon Energy Drinks the Healthiest Around?

Why are eFusjon Energy Drinks the Healthiest Around?

As far as energy drinks go, most of them do not contain the healthiest combination of ingredients you can find. I’m sure you’ve heard the news that the NEW Red Bull Cola was recently found to contain trace amounts of COCAINE. Well, Red Bull’s signature drinks have also been found to aggravate high blood pressure and heart related conditions, and possibly can increase the risk of having a stroke. This is because of the ingredients put into the drinks intended to give you that energy boost without the thought of health issues that may arise from it’s use.If you take a good look at the ingredients of any popular energy drink, you will find certain substances are found in most of them. Not all of which are the healthiest ingredients and substances that should be put into your body.

On top of the potential health issues, most popular energy drinks have a bad crash when you are coming down from the “high” these ingredients give you. Caffeine and Taurine are just two of the ingredients found in almost all energy drinks. Taurine is an amino acid produced in the testicles of bulls. The taurine used in the drinks is manufactured so it doesn’t come from bulls, but still, it’s not intended for human consumption, it’s for bulls! Caffeine isn’t bad for you unless you take too much of it or you are allergic. Anything over 60mg is going to give you adverse side-effects from the caffeine such as nausea, heart palpitations, headache, insomnia, etc… Most people know the effects of too much caffeine from experience.

Since I don’t want to say too many bad things about popular energy drinks that are most likely unhealthy, I will now explain why eFusjon Energy Drinks are different from the rest of the pack. eFusjon Energy Drinks are among the healthiest energy drinks available. There are more drinks that have healthy ingredients, but I haven’t found any energy drinks with this many healthy and high quality ingredients. Acai Berry is the main ingredient in eFusjon’s RAW and EDGE drinks which is one of the healthiest berries you can find with more health benefits being discovered every day. Also, the Acai Berry is very tasty and healthy.

Here is a list of eFusjon Energy Drink ingredients:

Crystalline Fructose

Reported Health Benefits:

Improves insulin sensitivity and glycemic control in healthy and diabetic individuals
Lower blood glucose levels after ingestion

Note: According to reports, Crystalline Fructose and HFCS(high fructose corn syrup) are not the same thing. HFCS is manufactured from cornstarch after the removal of protein and fiber. The cornstarch is hydrolyzed to form dextrose, which then undergoes an isomerization process to yield different forms of HFCS that vary depending on the final fructose content. HFCS therefore contains other components in addition to fructose, the majority of which is glucose with minor contributions of other substances including maltose, maltotriose and poly dextrose, In contrast, reports state that crystalline fructose is purified and does not contain appreciable amounts of other components. Reportedly when Type 2 diabetics were given equicaloric amounts of HFCS or fructose the ones given HFCS experienced much higher levels of glucose and insulin than those given fructose.

Crystalline fructose is processed. It is derived from corn, just like HFCS, but enriched with fructose. The fructose is crystallized, dried, and milled, then used as a sweetener in the likes of beverages and yogurts. It consists of 98% fructose and <2% style=”font-weight: bold;”>What is the difference between crystalline fructose and high fructose corn syrup?

Crystalline fructose and high-fructose corn syrup are often mistakenly confused as the same product. Crystalline fructose is simply pure fructose in crystalline form. It’s 100% fructose. High-fructose corn syrup is composed of nearly equal amounts of fructose and glucose.

What are the advantages of crystalline fructose?

Crystalline fructose offers unique benefits when used in a variety of products, including improved product texture, taste and stability. When combined with other sweeteners and starches, crystalline fructose boosts sweetness, cake height (in baked goods) and mouth-feel of foods and beverages. In addition, it produces a pleasing brown surface color and pleasant aroma when baking.

Ascorbic acid

Is a sugar acid with antioxidant properties. Its appearance is white to light-yellow crystals or powder. It is water-soluble. The L-enantiomer of ascorbic acid is commonly known as vitamin C.

What is selenium?

Selenium
is a trace mineral that is essential to good health but required only in small amounts. Selenium is incorporated into proteins to make selenoproteins, which are important antioxidant enzymes. The antioxidant properties of selenoproteins help prevent cellular damage from free radicals. Free radicals are natural by-products of oxygen metabolism that may contribute to the development of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease Other selenoproteins help regulate thyroid function and play a role in the immune system.

Biotin

Is an essential water-soluble B vitamin. The name biotin is taken from the Greek word bios meaning “life.” Without biotin, certain enzymes do not work properly and various complications can occur involving the skin, intestinal tract, and nervous system. Metabolic problems including very low blood sugars between meals, high blood ammonia, or acidic blood (acidosis) can occur. Death is theoretically possible, although no clear cases have been reported. Recent studies suggest that biotin is also necessary for processes on the genetic level in cells (DNA replication and gene expression). Biotin deficiency is extremely rare. This is because daily biotin requirements are relatively small, biotin is found in many foods, and the body is able to recycle much of the biotin it has already used. Significant toxicity has not been reported in the available literature with biotin intake.

China’s youth and the government

It’s a couple of days old, but Imagethief just stumbled on an article in the New York Times from Time’s former Beijing bureau chief, Matt Forney, explaining how supportive of the government China’s youth is, and why:

Many sympathetic Westerners view Chinese society along the lines of
what they saw in the waning days of the Soviet Union: a repressive
government backed by old hard-liners losing its grip to a new
generation of well-educated, liberal-leaning sophisticates. As pleasant
as this outlook may be, it’s naïve. Educated young Chinese, far from
being embarrassed or upset by their government’s human-rights record,
rank among the most patriotic, establishment-supporting people you’ll
meet.

This is a situation that I often find myself explaining to people overseas, many of whom are surprised to hear that a government so negatively covered in US media can have so much popular support and trust at home. Worth a read.

The New York Times has free PR advice for China

Responding to recent reports that the Chinese government is seeking external counsel, they write:

After facing major protests in London and Paris as the Olympic torch made stops on its journey to Beijing, the Chinese government is said to be looking for a public relations firm to patch up China’s image before the 2008 Games in August. In the spirit of the Olympic ideals, we are prepared to help China — free of charge.

Here’s what you do: Stop arresting dissidents. Stop spreading lies about the Dalai Lama, and start talking to him about greater religious and cultural freedoms for Tibet. Stop being an enabler to Sudan in its genocide in Darfur. In other words, start delivering on the pledge you made to the International Olympic Committee to respect human rights — which, by the way, include the freedom of expression and the freedom of assembly.

The rest is similar.

Standing by to see what unfolds in my hometown of San Francisco today.

Thanks to Chang’er for the link.

Something to worry the Darfur activists

Imagethief just dragged his weary self off of the eleven hour flight from Beijing to San Francisco, where he is spending a couple of hours before connecting on to San Diego. Having been following the what’s been following around the Olympic Torch Relay for the past few days, I was curious to see if there were any signs of the impending arrival of torch in San Francisco.

There certainly were. The huge above-the-fold image in both this morning’s New York Times and in my hometown newspaper, the San Francisco Chronicle*, is of two enormous “Free Tibet” banners that have been strung from the cables of the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s a startling image, and the latest in a string of difficulties that have beset the Relay.

The huge, all-cap headline in the print edition of the Chronicle is, “SF braces for torch turmoil”. (The online version has a different headline.) More activist action is obviously expected.

Looking at these photographs splashed over the front pages, and thinking back on the disturbances in London and Paris, the apparent grassroots support enjoyed by the Free Tibet movement is quite surprising. While this will certainly concern BOCOG, I can think of one unexpected place that it might be making teeth grind: The headquarters of Dream for Darfur and the Save Darfur Coalition.

These organizations have been running a significant PR campaign–the “Genocide Olympics”– for over a year, but their message has now been totally overwhelmed by the Tibet issue. As much as they may sympathize with the Tibetan activists, it must also gall the Darfur activist that they themselves never seemed likely to arouse this much grass-roots enthusiasm.

Tibet seems to exert a particular hold over the Western imagination. I don’t know if this is the result of canny PR by the Tibetan exile groups, the power of the Dalai Lama as a spokesperson and symbol, or the halo-effect (pardon the Catholic metaphor) of Tibet’s obvious Buddhism. Obviously current enthusiasm is also inflamed by recent events, which were much more proximate to China than anything happening in Darfur, but the underlying sympathy is long established. Other ethnic autonomy and independence movements around the world must be looking on in envy.

**The Chronicle has been in decline for years and is mostly AP wire copy, barring a three page local section and sports. The main front page story cited above was written by local reporters, who referred to the Chinese ambassador to the US by his given name, “Wenzhong”. This in a city with a huge Chinese population. Or perhaps they are just being informal.

Facebook provides a Chinese take on the source of Western media bias

Imagethief has been interested to receive in the past two days a couple of notices through Facebook account referring him to a new group (you must be a logged in Facebook user) called “The North Eastern Chinese American Protest.” I’ll let the group describe itself:

This is group to gather as many people as possible to create a real
protest against American media for their lies against China. Are you
tired of all those lies that our media says? Are you tired of people
always embarassing China? Then join this group.

Specefic
[sic] protest times will be discussed when there are enough people so invite
as many as possible that live in the NE part of US.
Keep in mind. This is a real protest in a real location. Even if you cant come. You are welcomed to join and toss around ideas!

It’s only got 33 37 members so far, so it’s a ways short of a tidal wave (it went up by four as I was writing) . But they’re planning something for “around June” and the day is young. It appears to be a mostly Chinese citizens living in the US with a smattering of ABC high-school students. We’ll see if passions are running as hot two months down the line.

I found this comment from a member named James Li to be particularly interesting:

Western media does not lie directly to its views, however, they can
choose to leave out certain important facts in their articles. The goal
of the western media is still to generate income, which can be more
successful if the public like what they say. China however, does not
need to bend the truth because News corporations are funded by the
government.

While Imagethief is a fan of Ben Bagdikian and will concede that the commercial nature of Western media causes some problems, he doesn’t quite agree with Mr. Li’s analysis with regard to the impartiality of China’s government-funded media. Mr. Li’s profile picture has a Chinese flag prominently in the background, so I assume he’s a Chinese citizen. Imagethief notes that the British-government funded BBC has come in for criticism from Chinese citizens for allegedly biased reporting on Tibet. If the British government has an explicit agenda that it promulgates through the BBC (and for the record, Imagethief doesn’t think this is the case) then surely the Chinese government does too?

But, then, as Mr. Li concludes, “every country has its secrets.”

See also:

  • Tim Johnson’s blog post on media bias accusations (he has received some colorful faxes, apparently)
  • CNN’s rather brief and officious rebuttal of the allegations made against it (Imagethief feels that Richard Spencer took this issue on quite well, although with the luxury of rather more space and a personal blog). By the way, CNN, got a Chinese version of your statement?

The trouble with stage-managed media tours…

…is when the extras don’t play their assigned roles:

A government-managed visit by foreign reporters to Tibet’s capital backfired Thursday when Buddhist monks disrupted the tour, screaming that there was no religious freedom and that the Dalai Lama was not to blame for Lhasa’s recent violence.

The government had arranged the trip for the reporters to show how calm Lhasa was after the deadly riots shattered the city.

The outburst by a group of 30 monks came as the journalists were being shown around the Jokhang Temple, one of Tibet’s holiest shrines.

“Tibet is not free! Tibet is not free!” yelled one young Buddhist monk, who then started crying.

And there’s video. I guess this will be the last package tour of Tibet for foreign journalists for a while.
